Beyond preparing and presenting sermons and lessons, the average pastor spends most of his time leading and mobilizing his people. This is an important activity in building the church. Paul emphasizes building people I Corinthians 3:6-17 where he says that people are the "building" of God (vs 9) and the "temple" of God (vs 16 & 17). Paul refers to himself as a "master builder", but includes others as "builders" in the process of building Christ's Church (vs 10 & 12). There is evaluation and reward (or judgment) in store for the builders as well (vs 12-15). Pastors are usually on the front line in this building process, but it involves lay leaders as well. . . .
